What’s all this then?

I’m Kieran, a professional video editor and cameraman. I was made redundant from my London media job at the end of November and, rather than moping about it, I thought I’d do something proactive.

I realised that I still have a valid Australian work visa courtesy of a 2009 work trip to Sydney and, thanks to a generous redundancy settlement, have enough money to fund a return.

Sydney is THE media hub in Australia. 50% of all Australian film & TV is made in Sydney plus a whole ton of international productions, thanks to the large FOX Studios complex just outside the city. I figured it shouldn’t be impossible to pick up some editing work out there, plus I love the city, which something I certainly can’t say about London.

So, on February 9th, I leave for Sydney until March 13th. After that, I’m heading direct (well, indirect really, via the Gold Coast… Hey, it saved me £200!) to Tokyo to decompress in a comfortable Japanese hotel and take in a bunch of pro wrestling shows (yes, I’m a fan; sorry about that…) before returning to the UK on March 28th.

If you’re an Sydney-based media company or have a production looking for a Final Cut Pro Editor (with his own kit), then check out my website, which has examples of my work to view and a PDF resumé to download.
